Adkins began swimming music when a portion of The Up to date Commitments, so moved in to honky tonk bars in the early 1990s. When gaining a select few fame, he moved to Nashville and signed to Capitol Records. His debut was 1996's ''Dreamin' Out Loud'', which included the total of hits rather "(This Ain't) No Thinkin' Thing" & "Every Light in the House". A watch-higher (Big Time), however, saw stingy sales compared to to ''Dreamin' Out Loud''. 1999's More was similarly disappointed, however his quaternary album, 2001's Chrome yielded a top-ten hit around "I'm Tryin'", &, inside 2003, "Chrome" did the equivalent. Adkins too pled shamefaced to the drunk driving charge during this time.
